Joseph M. Burns graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1979.
Joe has extensive experience representing public and private sector pension funds and labor organizations. Joe has represented FOP Lodge 7, the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund since 1990, and the Chicago Park Employees’ Fund and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Pension Fund for over 15 years. Joe also represents the Laborers’ Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago and collectively bargained, Amalgamated Transit Union governmental pension plans in Missouri, Indiana, and Alabama.
Joe was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1979 and has practiced extensively in federal courts in the Seventh Circuit.
Joe is an elected Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Joe is a past Board Member of Global Alliance for Africa (GAA) and has traveled to East Africa to assist with GAA's micro-finance and therapeutic arts programs and with GAA’s legal rights project to support women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Joe is also a past Board Member of the Spectrios Institute for Low Vision in Wheaton, Illinois.
